UNIT I 9
Indian standard code of practice for engineering drawing – general principles of Presentation.
Conventional representations of threaded parts, springs, gear and Common features.
Abbreviations and symbols for use on technical drawings. Conventions for sectioning and
dimensioning.
UNIT II 9
Tolerances – types – representation of tolerances on drawing, fits – types – selection of Fits –
allowance. Geometric tolerances – form and positional tolerances – datum, datum Features.
Maximum material principle – symbols and methods of indicating it on drawing Surface finish
symbols – welding symbols and methods of indicating it on drawing.
UNIT III (DRAFTING WORK USING MINI DRAFTER) 9
Preparation of part and assembly drawings of Plummer block, screw jack, machine vice, lathe
tailstock, tool head of the shaper, stuffing box, piston & connecting rod universal join)
UNIT IV 9
Introduction to the use of any drafting software – creation of simple geometric bodies using
primitives (line, arc, circle etc.,) and editing for the drawing, Dimensioning and text writing,
concept of layer creation and setting, line types.
UNIT V 9
Preparation of 2-D drawings using CAD software for components and assemblies of Plummer
block, screw jack, machine vice, lathe tailstock, tool head of the shaper. Introduction to 3-D
modeling solid and frame modeling.
